8 a.m.: Breakfast in the Café Mozart

9 a.m.: Art in the Albertina
The Albertina has one of the largest and most valuable graphic collections. The museum is home to masterpieces of Classical Modernism, such as Monet and Picasso. Monet's "Waterlily pond", Dega's "Dancers" and Renoir's "Portrait of a girl" can be admired here as well as paintings by Beckmann, Chagall, Picasso, Malevich, Warhol and Katz. From French Impressionism to German Expressionism to the Russian Avantgarde to the present - art lovers from all over the world will absolutely love the whole exhibition.
Tip: The sumptuously desinged state rooms with their valuable chandeliers, fireplaces and fine furniture reflect classicism at its best and are clearly worth a visit.

9:30 a.m.: Visit the Vienna State Opera
The Vienna State Opera was inaugurated in 1869 in the presence of Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Elisabeth with Mozart's DON JUAN. As one of the most important international opera houses worldwide, the Vienna State Opera looks back on a past rich in tradition and impresses & the great variety of productions. In each season there are around 350 performances with more than 60 different operas and ballet pieces on the program, such as "La Nozze di Figaro", "Don Giovanni", "Madama Butterfly", as well as the masterpieces by Giuseppe Verdi "Aida" and "La Traviata ". In addition to the committed ensemble members, international stars also appear on the stage every evening. The Vienna State Opera annually attracts 600,000 visitors. Thousands of open-air guests can enjoy these performances through live streams.
Tip: Every year, around 45 performances are broadcasted live and open-air on a screen on the facade of the Vienna State Opera – free of charge!

10:15 a.m.: Fun for all in the Natural History Museum
The museum offers its guests a journey through time and captivates with unique pieces such as the 29,500-year-old Venus von Willendorf - or the world's largest and oldest collection of meteorites. Exhibits such as Stellers' manatee, which has died out over 200 years ago, or giant Dinosaur skeletons illustrate the diversity of nature. With the full dome projection technology, the digital planetarium takes visitors virtually to the edge of the Milky Way galaxy or to the Saturn rings. Among the thousands of objects in the museum, the 150-million-year-old skeleton of the Diplodocus dinosaur stands out, which is extremely rare to see and is one of the largest models of the NHM.

10:45 a.m.: Admire the Painting Gallery in the Kunsthistorisches Museum (Museum of Fine Arts)
The painting Gallery of the Kunsthistorisches Museum emerged from the art collections of the House of Habsburg and is now one of the largest and most important of its kind in the world. The Bruegel Hall contains, among other things, the world's largest Bruegel collection, including the famous paintings "Bauernhochzeit” (Peasant wedding), "Kinderspiele" (Children plays), "The Hunters in the Snow” and also the “Tower of Babel”. Masterpieces by Vermeer, Rembrandt, Rafael, Caravaggio, Velázquez and Italian baroque paintings can also be admired in the unique rooms of the KHM. 
Tip: On the occasion of the Beethoven year 2020, the museum will bring Beethoven's unique and universal reception in connection with paintings by Caspar David Friedrich, sketchbooks by J.M.W. Turner, sculptures by Auguste Rodin and paintings by Francisco de Goya.

11:15 a.m.: House of Parliament
In Greek style designed and built Parliament building (by Theophil von Hansen in 1873-1883) is now the seat of the National Council and the Federal Council. Theophil von Hansen was inspired by the Hellenes because of their lawfulness to everything. The Pallas Athena fountain in front of the main entrance is said to embody the state wisdom. The footprint of the huge building is almost 14,000 m² and offers space for 1,600 rooms.
Note: Due to extensive renovation works, the interior of the Parliament cannot be visited until 2021. In the meantime, MPs and staff are accommodated in the Vienna Hofburg or in specially constructed pavilions on Heldenplatz and in the Hofburg Library courtyard.

12:00: Visit the Vienna City Hall
The Vienna City Hall, built in neo-Gothic style by Friedrich von Schmidt, is now the official seat of the Mayor and the meeting place of the City Senate, State government and municipal Council- & State Parliament. Numerous events take place on the premises of the Town Hall. In November the Advent market creates a pre-Christmas atmosphere with its unique lighting. Each year from January to March, the Rathauspark transforms into one of the most beautiful outdoor ice-skating rinks and attracts plenty of locals and tourists as well.
Fun fact: The "Eiserne Rathausmann" statue, being a Viennese landmark, measures 6 meters with the standard and wears shoe size 63.
Tip: Free tours for individuals take place on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 1 p.m. No registration is required. Audio guides in English, French, Italian and Spanish are available free of charge upon presentation of an ID.

12:30 p.m.: Burgtheater – one of the most prominent stages in Europe
The Burgtheater is one of the most important stages in Europe and even counts as the largest German speaking theatre with a repertoire of more than 30 pieces. The program includes classic works such as "Die Bakchen", "Mephisto", or "Faust". This extraordinary building not only shows unique theater productions, but reflects Art in each corner. Among others (e.g. brothers Gustav and Ernst Klimt & by Franz Matsch) "The Altar of Dionysus" or the "Scene Molières" by Gustav Klimt can be admired on one of the many ceiling paintings. Tip: At the entrance you can discover the ceiling painting "The Illusionist Molières", where the painter, Gustav Klimt in the company of his two colleagues, can be seen in the background.

1 p.m.: Lunchtime in Café Landtmann

2 p.m.: Discover the University of Vienna
Founded in 1365, the University of Vienna is considered to be the oldest university in the German-speaking area and the largest in Europe. The University of Vienna has a free access and definitely worth a visit with its large reading room, its imposing three-armed philosopher's staircase and its arcade courtyard with numerous monuments of researchers. 3 p.m.: The Old Stock Exchange is worth a visit
The former Vienna Stock Exchange building boasts a distinctive brick-red facade and is one of the most prominent edifices on the world-famous Ring boulevard, a thoroughfare laid out in the 19th century. The Börsensäle premises were constructed by Danish architect Theophil von Hansen between 1871 and 1877 and housed the Vienna Stock Exchange until 1998.

3:30 p.m.: Admire Applied Art at the MAK (Museum of Applied Arts)
The MAK, which was opened in 1871 after three years of construction, is still a standing out attraction built in Renaissance style. The MAK is fully committed to Applied Art and Design. From the Middle Ages to present days, the museum shows furniture, glass and porcelain, silver and textiles. Precious handicrafts by the Wiener Werkstätte, bentwood furniture by Thonet and highlights of Art Nouveau, such as the gold-leaf designed frieze draft of the Palais Stoclet in Brussels by Gustav Klimt.
Tip: The Vienna Flexi PASS allows free entry to the MAK and also to the unique Geymüller lock.

4:00 p.m.: Walk through Vienna's City park
The City park was opened in 1862 as Vienna's first public park. This is the park with the most monuments and sculptures - among others there are monuments by Anton Bruckner, Franz Schubert, Franz Lehár and Friedrich von Amerling. The City park is also home to the famous Johann Strauss monument. This was unveiled in 1921 and framed the gilded bronze statue of Strauss with a marble relief. The historic building of the Kursalon Hübner is also located in the park. This was built in Italian Renaissance style and has a wide terrace in the park. At the time of the Strauss brothers, the Kursalon was a popular dance and concert venue. Today it is a popular scene for balls, concerts, events and congresses and also houses a café-restaurant.

5:30 p.m.: Experience Vienna by night
See the most important sights, such as the Ferris wheel and Belvedere Palace, Karlsplatz, Parliament or the Town Hall by night and rediscover the illuminated city in the night. You can let Vienna show you its unique flair while an audio guide tells you interesting facts about the capital.
Tip: In the summer season (1st April – 31st October) you can take this ride after your dinner.  


6:45 p.m.: End your day in Plachutta's Gasthaus zur Oper
